COLOCATION

Choosing the right home for critical apps and data extends beyond a data center’s four walls; trust, security and the personal touch are  a must.

Content Delivery Network

Content delivery network (CDN) services make Web sites load faster and reduce crashes to give your visitors a better browsing or e-commerce experience.

Corporate websites that use lots of video or host large numbers of files often take advantage of CDN services to accelerate page loading times.  Retailers also use these services for e-commerce sites. Imagine searching for a product on Google and getting multiple vendors to choose from in the results.  If the top site listed does not load quickly, there is a good chance that the visitor will move on to the next one.  In this way, CDNs give users a competitive advantage.

CDNs can be set up in different ways but typically:

  • The first time a visitor accesses your Website, images and other graphics are served up by the Webserver.
  • On subsequent visits from other users, the same images and graphics come from the CDN. Periodically, the CDN will check in with the Webserver to see if any changes have been made up the content such as a header graphic.

CDNs offer additional benefits such as reducing bandwidth and processing requirements.  Depending on how they are configured, CDNs offer security benefits as well.

One TierPoint customer, a popular specialty clothing retailer, experienced a Webserver crash every time they sent out a promotional email.  We designed a CDN solution for them and the crashes stopped.

TierPoint offers a full suite of CDN solutions leveraging strong relationships with Akamai, Imperva, Incapsula and others.

Cloud computing lets each server run multiple applications, using fewer physical servers than traditional computing, and can create system redundancy without additional hardware. Even complex setups can rapidly deploy to new servers. Resources can be dynamically balanced and reallocated as system needs change, maximizing performance and uptime.

With TierPoint Cloud Services, fewer people are needed to support your organization’s cloud infrastructure. The entire network can be viewed and managed from a simple-to-use web portal. Need to spin up a new server? You don’t need to order and install costly hardware, just configure the resources, add an operating system, and within minutes that server is up and available for your employees and/or customers to use.
