High-density colocation is designed to accommodate the increasing power requirements of modern IT equipment, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI) and other high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. In a high-density colocation setup, advanced cooling and power distribution systems manage the heightened heat generated by densely packed hardware. While traditional data centers might have power densities of around 2-5 kilowatts (kW) per rack, high-density colocation can reach much higher levels, often ranging from 15 kW to 30 kW and ultra-high-density can deliver 30kW and beyond per rack.

Traditional colocation is delivered via standard industry-accepted racks and cabinets with no additional per-cabinet cooling offered. High density and ultra-high-density colocation are delivered via state-of-the-art self-contained cabinets with integrated cooling options.
