Black Hat Edition

Black Hat was an incredible venue to launch a new product.

The energy was amazing, the conversations were even better, and the people who took the time to stop by the TierPoint booth were genuinely engaged, inquisitive, and excited to hear what we’ve been building. Most importantly, we survived our first-ever Black Hat showing and came away with feedback that exceeded anything I expected.

TierPoint used Black Hat not only to showcase our expanding MSSP capabilities, but also to launch one of the most requested additions to our security portfolio: advanced DDoS protection integrated directly into our security offering.

There are plenty of companies competing in the MDR, EDR, XDR, and security telemetry space. But how many MSSPs can also deliver advanced DDoS mitigation as a native part of the security stack?

Not many. In fact, I can count them on one hand.

DDoS protection has become a critical layer of modern network security because attackers don’t need to breach your environment to disrupt your business, they can simply make it unavailable. As attacks continue to evolve, traditional firewalls and endpoint controls were never designed to absorb or mitigate large-scale DDoS attacks. Effective protection helps identify and mitigate malicious traffic before it can overwhelm critical infrastructure, applications, or connectivity. Security isn’t just about protecting data anymore; it’s also about protecting availability.

As TierPoint continues its evolution from MSP to MSSP, I was blown away by the response to our native DDoS capabilities and the network detection and response protections we’ve built around them.

Internally, we had started thinking of these capabilities as table stakes, the baseline of what a modern MSSP should provide.

Black Hat taught us something important:

They aren’t table stakes at all.
