Data Center Services Help First Assembly of God’s Global Livestream
Introduction
First Assembly of God is a non-profit church in North Little Rock that produces live-streamed online services every weekend. Services are streamed to audiences around the world. Their average weekly online attendance was over 46,000 in 2022.
Challenges
To support its weekly live-stream services, First Assembly of God needed to either refresh its existing hardware and invest in new hardware or work with a cloud provider and migrate its data to a cloud solution.
While researching his options, Larry Daniel, Director of IT, found there were better cost savings and optimization opportunities working with a third-party cloud and data center provider. Working with a provider would also ensure a better solution for their virtual environment through VMware.
In their process to find a provider, the client reviewed multiple competitors. They eventually chose TierPoint after a meeting with a representative at a TierPoint Little Rock Data Center tour. The client was impressed with TierPoint’s state-of-the-art facility and knew they had found a strong potential partnership and solution with TierPoint.
Solutions
When it came to migrating the client’s virtual machines from their infrastructure to the Multitenant Cloud, TierPoint worked to make the transition as smooth as possible. TierPoint helped migrate 6 servers to a Multitenant Cloud in the TierPoint Little Rock, Arkansas Data Center. In addition, they deployed Backup as a Service (BaaS) to ensure critical applications and data were protected.
One of First Assembly of God’s main servers houses an application that manages all their streaming applications and related workloads to keep the service functioning. The client relies on TierPoint solutions to run these vital systems that support the weekly live stream, ensuring a robust system in terms of internet and system reliability.
Results
Since working with TierPoint, First Assembly of God enjoys internet and server reliability. This ensures its 4K video stream is strong and healthy each weekend. “The reliability has been almost 100% and has worked great for us,” said Daniel. “It has been a solid solution for everything we’ve needed.”
The relationship has also been a major factor for the client: “For us, the relationship with TierPoint was critical,” said Daniel. “I like to really build a relationship with the vendors and [value-added resellers] we deal with.”
When First Assembly of God compared the benefits of TierPoint solutions vs. purchasing new hardware, they saw the value and potential ROI of a hosted solution with TierPoint.
Partnering with TierPoint takes the pressure off Larry Daniel being the only person in IT at First Assembly of God. The partnership allows him to spin up another VMWare server when needed or receive other support from TierPoint in a matter of minutes. He appreciates the reliability of the service, the ease of opening support tickets, and the added peace of mind that comes from TierPoint’s backup and storage services.
